Hator is the celestial Cow who nurses the Sun, the House of Horus, the Lady of Music and Love. Whoever enters her Chamber steps into the first depths of the Tradition.

The invocation: Hator (Het-Heru)

Hator — from ancient Egyptian Ḥwt-Ḥr (Het-Heru), "House of Horus" — is one of the oldest and most versatile deities of the Egyptian pantheon. Represented as a woman with a head crowned by the solar disk between two bovine horns, or directly as the celestial Cow who bore the sun and nurses it each morning, Hator condenses the attributes of:

• Mother of the Sun: the sky itself from which Ra is born each day.
• Goddess of love, beauty, music, and dance: patroness of artists and fertility.
• Lady of the Sycamore: cosmic tree under whose shade the souls of the righteous rest.
• Lady of the Theban Necropolis: guardian of the passage to the Realm of the West.
• Goddess of sacred joy: opposite to the rigor of Ma'at, but her perfect complement.

To work under the invocation of Hator is to place the philosophical work under the sign of initiatic joy: joy that is not frivolity, but the profound jubilation of one who has seen another piece of the Light.

The first eleven philosophical degrees

The Sublime Chapter Lodge HATOR No. 1 works the eleven degrees which mediate between Master Mason (3°) and Grand Elect of the Sacred Vault (14°), threshold of the Rose Croix Chapter:

Each degree is worked with its complete ritual, catechism, proper decoration, symbolic instruction, and internal examination. Advancement is not accelerated by calendar.

Under the Supreme Council 33°

HATOR No. 1 operates under the obedience of the Supreme Council of the 33rd Degree of Mexico, presided over by the T∴V∴P∴M∴ and Most Powerful Sovereign Grand Commander M∴S∴H∴ Mishel Andrés Arreola Morales. It does NOT depend on the Symbolic Grand Orient — its jurisdiction is philosophical degrees, not symbolic ones.

It is the first chapter lodge constituted in Mexican territory under the Supreme Council 33° of the Rite of Memphis-Mizraim. Brothers who have attained the 14th degree in HATOR No. 1 are in conditions to request their exaltation to the Rose Croix Chapter (15°–18°) when it is constituted under the same jurisdiction.

Ritual work

The Sublime Chapter Lodge HATOR No. 1 works with the regularity established by the Supreme Council. Its works include:

• Opening and closing of the Temple according to the specific ritual of each degree (each degree opens and closes differently).
• Reception: ritual passage from Master Mason to 4th degree (Secret Master) and elevation to subsequent degrees.
• Symbolic study: each degree brings its own doctrinal body (Kabbalah, Hermeticism, spiritual alchemy, Egyptian symbolism).
• Tronco work: lectures and papers by the Initiates on topics related to the degrees in course.
• White meetings on specific dates of the philosophical calendar.

Approach

The Master Masons of the Symbolic Grand Orient of Mexico who have sufficiently worked their symbolic degrees may request from the Supreme Council 33° their reception in HATOR No. 1. The request is evaluated by the Chapter Lodge and by the Supreme Council; it is not an automatic procedure.

For Masons from other regular obediences (AASR, York Rite, other Egyptian rites) who already possess philosophical degrees and wish their revalidation under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Council 33° of the Rite of Memphis-Mizraim, official correspondence should be addressed through the Sanctuary contact page.
